Banana Split Parfait Jars

Banana Split Parfait Jars are a Summer Treat

dessert recipes, summer recipes, easy recipes

My family loves banana splits, especially in the summer, so when I was walking down the baking aisle of Meijer and spied the pudding, I wondered how good it would be to substitute that for the ice cream, and make a dish that was a little more portable.  It turned out amazing!  The flavors were wonderful, and the pudding added a creamy texture that I actually preferred over the ice cream.  The best thing was that the jars were perfect for lunches and you can use any jars you have. What an adorable way to serve Banana Split Parfait Jars. Tip- if you’re planning a kids birthday party, how about serving these as a treat in jars. Instead of this size of a jar use baby jars.

Making Banana Split Parfait Jars

Making Banana Split Parfait Jarsis pretty easy.  I started with a box of French vanilla instant pudding, made according to the package instructions.  When that was set up and chilled, I placed it in the bottom of the jar.  Fresh, red ripe strawberries and sliced bananas topped the pudding, and a drizzle of my favorite Hershey’s chocolate sauce (the old fashioned kind from the can) created the most amazing dessert in a jar.  Banana Split Parfait Jars will hold in the refrigerator for a day or two, so you can make up a few jars for lunches.

 Banana Split Parfait Jars Ingredients

  • 1 box French vanilla instant pudding
  • milk (per instructions on box)
  • 1 pint strawberries, cleaned and cut
  • 2 bananas, sliced
  • chocolate syrup
  • 4 clean jars with lids

 Directions:

  • Mix the pudding according to the package instructions.  Chill for at least an hour.
  • Fill the jars halfway with pudding.
  • Top with ½ of the berries and bananas.
  • Fill the jars the rest of the way with pudding.
  • Top with remaining berries and bananas.
  • Drizzle with chocolate sauce.
  • Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Changing Up Banana Split Parfait Jars

There are so many ways you can change up Banana Split Parfait Jars.  Try adding pineapple preserves or ice cream topping.  I love to use cheesecake flavored pudding, as well as chocolate in my Banana Split Parfait Jars for a change of pace.  If fresh fruit isn’t available, try the preserves version of it.  It will add the perfect flavor and keeps the theme of the Banana Split Parfait Jars.  Next time the family wants a delicious dessert, grab the ingredients for Banana Split Parfait Jars!
