Plus, I’m sharing some of my favorite things to do during the fall season that doesn’t break the bank:

  1. Have a bonfire. We built a fire pit in our backyard several years ago, and use it each summer and fall.
  2. Find fall festivals and harvest events going on in your area. You will find a lot of them are free or cost a few dollars to enter.
  3. Have a pumpkin carving contest.
  4. Go to an apple orchard and pick apples. We love going to Uncle John’s in St. John, Michigan.
  5. Roast marshmallows.
  6. Go stargazing.
  7. Go for a hike. Going hiking in the fall allows you to take in all of the awesome fall scenery.
  8. Try Halloween Oreos. You can only get them this time of year. You can find them at your local Walmart store.
  9. Watch Halloween movies.
  10. Go to a thrift store and find vintage Halloween costumes.
  11. Create the ultimate Halloween punch. {or you can try our blood-clot shots}
  12. Make apple crisp! {we have a fabulous bourbon apple crisp recipe that’s AMAZING!}
  13. It’s football season! Throw a football party. To save money, have a potluck and have everyone bring something.
  14. Make your own fall wreath.
  15. Make a hot pot of chili.
  16. Enjoy a pumpkin spice latte.
  17. Go through a corn maze.
  18. Take your own fall pictures.
  19. Rake up the leaves in big piles all over the yard, then jump in them!
  20. Make a scarf out of an old sweater.
  21. Check your local events for free hayrides.
  22. Have a Halloween (or Fall) movie night at home.

  24. Visit your local library and check out their fall line-up.
  25. Check the kids’ school calendars to see what free family-friendly events are coming up.
