Meijer Meal Planning Week 10/22: 6 Meals $35 Bucks

For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based on a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those into your final price. (sale dates )

 

Meal 1:  Chili  $6.43

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 onions, diced (pantry)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 2 cans Meijer red kidney beans, drained
  • 2 cans Meijer black beans, drained
  • 2 cans Meijer petite diced tomatoes
  • 2 T chili powder (pantry)

Directions:  Brown the meat, onions, and garlic; drain any fat.  Add the remaining ingredients and simmer at least 40 minutes, until the beans pop.  Serve with bread, if desired.

Meal 2:  Huevos Rancheros  $4.40

  • ½ lb Meijer chorizo
  • 8 eggs
  • 8 La Banderita tortillas (family pack)
  • Olive oil (pantry)
  • Sour cream (pantry)
  • 1 avocado, sliced into 8 slices
  • Salsa (pantry)

Directions:  Brown and drain the chorizo.  Set aside.  Place oil in a saute pan and pan fry the tortillas until crispy.  Place 2 on each large plate.  Top with chorizo.  Cook the eggs to desired doneness and place on the chorizo.  Top with sour cream, avocado, and salsa.

Meal 3:  Chicken Pot Pie  $4.99

  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into chunks
  • Water (pantry)
  • 1 bag Meijer frozen vegetable soup blend
  • ½ C flour (pantry)
  • Salt and pepper (pantry)
  • 2 C buttermilk baking mix (pantry)
  • ⅔ C milk (pantry)

Directions:  Place the chicken in a large saucepan.  Cover with water and season with salt.  Bring to a simmer for 30 minutes.  Mix the flour with enough cold water to make a thick slurry.  Slowly pour into the chicken mixture, stirring constantly.  Simmer until thickened, about 5 minutes.  Add in the vegetables and pour into a deep casserole dish.  Bake 30 minutes at 350°F.  Mix the baking mix and milk until well mixed.  Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls into the gravy mixture.  Bake another 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Meal 4:  Smoked Sausage, Squash, and Rice  $3.88

  • 1 pkg Hillshire Farms smoked sausage links, cut into ½ inch pieces
  • 1 butternut squash, washed and cubed (about 2 lbs)
  • 2 C rice (pantry)
  • 4 C water (pantry)
  • Salt and pepper (pantry)
  • 4 T Butter (pantry)

Directions:  In a large saute pan, brown the sausage and squash in the butter.  Add the rice and water, cover, and simmer 20 minutes or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed.  Serve with salt and pepper.

Meal 5:  Fish and Cheesy Fries  $8.48

  • 1 pkg Gorton’s Fish, any variety
  • 1 bag Ore Ida French fries
  • 1 pkg Meijer shredded cheddar
  • ½ C mayonnaise (pantry)
  • ¼ C relish (pantry)

Directions:  Prepare the fish and fries as directed on the package.  When the fries are crispy, sprinkle with the cheese and return to the oven until melted.  Mix the mayo and relish well.  Serve with the fish.

Meal 6:  Barbecued Pork Chops and Broccoli  $6.74

  • 2 lb bone-in assorted pork chops
  • 1 bottle Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, any variety
  • 1 ½ lb broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 T butter (pantry)
  • 1 lemon, juiced and zested (pantry)

Directions:  Place the pork chops in a slow cooker, top with barbecue sauce, cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Steam the broccoli to desired doneness and top with butter, lemon juice, and zest.

This week, 6 mouthwatering meals will cost only $34.92!
