For this week, using the Favado App and our Meijer Matchups posted here on A Mitten Full Of Savings, I’ve been able to come up with a whole week’s worth of dinners that will cost you less than $50, along with a few things from your pantry!   You can also print out my FREE Meal Planning printables that will help you plan and organize your meals each week! (this is always super helpful for me!!)

  • This is based on a family of 4-5- so you will need to adjust it accordingly for a bigger or smaller family.
  • All items are on sale or part of the lower Meijer price. If you don’t have the pantry items, then you will need to add those to your final price.

Meal 1:  Chuck Roast with Potatoes and Steamed Broccoli  $9.98

  • 2 lb chuck roast
  • 1 ½ t salt (pantry)
  • ¾ t pepper (pantry)
  • 1 t garlic powder (pantry)
  • 1 onion, chopped (pantry)
  • 2 ½ lb Klondike Rose potatoes, scrubbed and quartered
  • 1 crown broccoli

Directions:  Place the chuck roast in a slow cooker.  Sprinkle with the seasonings.  Place the potatoes around the roast.  Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  Steam the broccoli to the desired doneness.  

Meal 2:  Baked Cod with Pasta  $8.49

  • 1 pkg frozen cod, thawed and patted dry
  • Salt and pepper (pantry)
  • 1 jar Ragu pasta sauce, any variety
  • 1 box Meijer pasta, any variety

Directions:  Place the cod on a baking sheet.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper.  Heat the pasta sauce and prepare the pasta according to the package directions.  When the pasta is nearly done, bake the cod in a 425°F oven until the fish flakes easily.

Meal 3:  Baked Cheezy Chicken with Fries  $7.12

  • 2 lb chicken breasts
  • 1 C mayonnaise (pantry)
  • ½ box Cheez-It crackers (family size), crushed to crumbs
  • 1 bag Meijer French fries, any variety

Directions:  Place the crackers in a shallow dish.  Spread the mayonnaise over the chicken and coat with the crackers.  Place on a baking sheet.  Bake in a 425°F oven for 30 minutes, turning once, until no pink remains in the thickest part of the chicken.  Bake the fries according to the directions on the package.

Meal 4: Beef and Bean Casserole  $5.66

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, diced (pantry)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (pantry)
  • 2 cans Meijer pinto beans, drained
  • 1 15 oz can Meijer tomato sauce
  • 1 box Jiffy Corn Muffin mix, plus ingredients per directions

Directions:  Brown the beef, onion, and garlic until no pink remains; drain.  Add the pinto beans and tomato sauce.  Heat until bubbly.  Place in an 8×8 inch pan.  In a bowl, mix the corn muffin mix with ingredients per the package.  Spread over the beef mixture and bake in a 400°F oven for 15-20 minutes, until the cornbread is cooked and lightly brown.

Meal 5:  Pork Loin, Mashed Potatoes, and Buttered Carrots  $6.17

  • 3 lb pork loin
  • Salt and pepper (pantry)
  • 2 ½ lbs Klondike Rose potatoes, scrubbed and diced
  • Milk and butter (pantry)
  • 1 pkg baby carrots
  • Butter (pantry)

Directions:  Place the pork loin in a slow cooker and sprinkle with salt and pepper.  Cover and set to low for 6-8 hours.  About 40 minutes before serving, place the potatoes in a saucepan and cover with water.  Bring to a boil and simmer until tender, about 20 minutes.  Drain and mash to desired consistency with milk and butter.  Steam the carrots and serve with butter.  Refrigerate leftover pork for next meal.

Meal 6:  Pork Ramen Soup  $1.25

  • 2 c shredded pork loin
  • ½ pkg baby carrots, diced
  • 1 onion, diced (pantry)
  • 1 rib celery, diced (pantry)
  • 3 pkgs ramen noodles, oriental flavor

Directions:  Place the carrots, onion, and celery in a stockpot and saute until onion just turns clear.  Add the pork loin and 6 cups of water.  Bring to a simmer.  Add the noodles and seasoning packets.  Boil just until the noodles are tender.
