WEEKLY AD– These are coupons found in the weekly circular.

WALGREENS EASY SAVER– This is a catalog that is found in the front of the store. Within this catalog they have Instant Value Coupons (IVC). The IVC can be combined with a manufacturers coupons. You can also print those same coupons online (but I would save the ink and grab a book in the store). These coupons usually come at the beginning of each month!

REGISTER REWARDS – (RR) – are manufacturer coupons that print out when your transaction is complete. You will usually see them advertised in the paper saying when you buy this tube of toothpaste for $2.99, you will get a Register Reward of $2.00.  They are coupons that are to be used on your next purchase. Register Rewards are manufacturer coupons. When you have a RR in hand to use, you can only use ONE RR per item purchased. For example: If you are purchasing five items, you can use use up to a combo of five mf coupons/RRs. If you attempt to use more than five, the register will beep. If you run into a situation where you have more manufacturer coupons/RRs to use than products, look for “filler (Clearance items, candy, stuff that is CHEAP, etc)” items to add to your purchase. Fillers are inexpensive items, and they allow you to apply more coupons at checkout.

Walgreens store coupons do NOT count towards your coupon-to-item ratio. In other words, the register will not beep if you are using more Walgreens coupons than items.

Also note Register Reward deals do NOT roll!

The best thing… you can use the Walgreen’s coupons with manufacture’s coupons. This is called stacking. This is how you save BIG!!!!

As of 9/16/2012, Walgreens has rolled out a brand new rewards program called Balance Rewards! You can enroll in-store, online or via the mobile app and begin earning points and special savings, and start redeeming rewards.

Earning Points

Balance Rewards Members will earn points with the purchase of specified products and/or services during specified promotions periods. Online orders delivered to your home will earn points as if purchased in store. Online orders picked up in store will earn points after the items have been picked up from the store. Points will be awarded to the Member’s account 3-5 days after purchase. Members can also earn points for making healthy choices, such as getting an immunization or participating in Walk with Walgreens (walk.walgreens.com).

*Walgreens reserves the right to limit points awarded with respect to any offer or promotion to reasonable household quantities. On a return and/or exchange the Points will be deducted from the Member’s account that was used for the original purchase.

Redeeming Points

Your points will be equal to the following rewards, redeemable for redemption dollars:

When you choose to redeem your points, they will be converted into redemption dollars to be used on your purchase. Redemption dollars cannot be paid out in cash or in store credit.

*Point Promotions will not apply to rain check items purchased after the promotion has ended. Points will not be earned in a transaction where Redemption Dollars or Store Credit is used. Point Promotions and Redemption Dollars will not apply to and Points cannot be earned on purchases of: alcohol; dairy; tobacco; stamps; phone/prepaid cards; money orders/transfers; transportation passes; lottery tickets; charitable donations; or pharmacy items or services that must be excluded by law as determined by Company. Points will not be awarded if in Company’s reasonable opinion the merchandise purchased will be used for resale or commercial use and any Points awarded on such purchases will be forfeited.

Points Expiration:

Keep in mind that if you do not earn or redeem points for 6 consecutive calendar months, the membership will be deemed to be inactive and all accumulated Points will be forfeited. For active Members, all Balance Rewards Points expire on a rolling 36 month basis.

So when you are checking out:

This is the best order to present your coupons to the cashier.

  • Manufacturer’s Coupons
  • IVC’s
  • Walgreens Weekly Ad Coupons
  • Register Rewards

Walgreens will not let you have more coupons than items purchased. For example, you can’t have 1 item with 2 coupons so you may have to buy something cheap like a piece of those yummy caramel candies they have at register or something else small.
The idea is to use RR to buy other items that offer RR. That way you are never really spending your $. Also, you are going to stack coupons with the RR.

Always take a copy of their coupon policy with you to the store!
