Five Tips: How to Save Money on Amusement Parks

1. Learn when the off season is.
All parks have an off season, and it is best to know when this is. For many parks, the winter months tend to be less crowded. What does this mean for you? Many parks offer deals and steals as a well of drumming up business during these slower times. Often, the few days before a holiday are also considered off season as well, so find out what the off season is at the park you wish to visit is. You will save money and spend less time waiting in lines.

2. Scour out discount cards.
Certain Visa cardholders, residents local to the park area, and service members are entitled to discount cards that will save them money or earn additional park perks. Be sure to find out if your Visa, county, or status qualify you for one of these discounts. If not, look online to see if any retailers in your area have coupon books valid at the attraction.

3.  Book your own transportation.
Whether you are flying or driving, take care of these arrangements yourself as opposed to having the park find you these deals. In those cases, you are sure to spend more. Instead, handle your own driving, charter, flight arrangements, etc. You will surely save a bundle.

4. Pack it, don’t purchase it.
Take a backpack and pack any necessities you think you may need. Sunscreen, medications, lotions, water, film, extra socks, etc. can all be found at park gift shops, but they will come at a hefty price. Instead, pack these items in your backpack and be prepared. You don’t want to have to shell out $10.00 for sunscreen when you have some at home.

5. Bring your own food.
Many parks do not have rules preventing anyone from bringing food into the parks. You can bring your own high protein snacks, bottled drinks, fruit bars, granola, and other snacks to keep you energized and also to keep you from spending inflated food prices. Stick to buying one sit down meal per day on your visit, and snacking with your own snacks to curb your appetite the rest of the day.

You won’t have to make huge sacrifices, nor will you need to spend a great deal of time or effort. These tips can be taken advantage of quite easily and the savings will be noticeable.
